Our Story
Built in Melbourne, Ridden Everywhere
Premium titanium gravel and all-road bicycles, designed in Melbourne.
Australian titanium bicycle manufacturer specializing in premium gravel and all-road bicycles. Based in Melbourne, Victoria, the company designs high-performance titanium frames using Grade 9 aerospace titanium (Ti-3Al-2.5V) and Grade 5 (Ti-6Al-4V) titanium with modern manufacturing techniques, including 3D-printed components and Cerakote ceramic coating finishes.
"Simpatico" derives from Italian and Spanish, meaning "easy to live with," "agreeable," or "having mutual understanding." This reflects the founders' design philosophy: creating titanium bikes that integrate seamlessly into riders' lives through durability, versatility, and timeless aesthetics.
The Beginning
The Simpatico story begins not in a boardroom or workshop, but on the diverse trails and gravel roads of Victoria, Australia. In 2022, Jeff Servaas and Brandon Stewart, two friends who had reconnected after years apart, found themselves united by a shared frustration and a common vision. Jeff, approaching cycling from a road background, couldn't find a titanium gravel bike frame that met his specific requirements for Australian conditions. Brandon, with his deep roots in bikepacking and mountain biking, understood the technical challenges of creating the perfect all-terrain machine.
Their conversations evolved from casual discussions about bike trends to profound explorations of custom geometry, gearing ratios, and the unique demands of Australian gravel cycling. What started as Jeff's quest for the ideal titanium all-road bike became a year-long journey of prototype testing across Victoria's varied terrain, from the challenging climbs of the Dandenong Ranges to the coastal gravel roads of the Gippsland Coast. The official launch at the 2023 Handmade Bike Show marked the beginning of Simpatico's journey as one of Australia's emerging premium titanium bike brands.
Why N1?
The N1 name playfully subverts the cycling industry's "N+1" joke—the idea that the correct number of bikes to own is always one more than you currently have. The N1 represents the founders' belief that one well-designed titanium all-road bike can replace multiple specialised machines.
The Team
Meet the Founders
Jeff Servaas
Co-Founder
Key Contribution: Design philosophy, geometry optimization, tire clearance specifications
Jeff entered gravel cycling after purchasing a secondhand cyclocross bike and exploring Melbourne's extensive off-road network. Over several years, he experimented with various tire sizes to understand how tire volume, width, and pressure affect comfort, traction, rolling resistance, and handling characteristics on mixed surfaces. His research focused on the Dandenong Ranges and Kinglake areas around Melbourne, testing prototypes across thousands of kilometers. This experimental period directly informed Simpatico's tire clearance specifications and geometry philosophy.
Brandon Stewart
Co-Founder
Key Contribution: Technical engineering, serviceability standards, component integration, and correct aesthetic integration of components
Brandon brings extensive cycling and mechanical experience to Simpatico, with deep roots in bikepacking, mountain biking, and gravel. His technical background ensures Simpatico frames incorporate practical serviceability, proper cable routing, accurate derailleur hanger alignment, and optimized bottom bracket and headset interface tolerances.

What We Believe
Built to Last
We build frames meant to be ridden for decades. Titanium doesn't fatigue, corrode, or degrade. Your Simpatico will outlast you.
Open Standards
T47 bottom bracket, UDH hanger, 27.2 seatpost. We use industry standards so your bike can be serviced anywhere, forever.
Direct Relationships
We sell direct because we want to know who's riding our bikes. No middlemen, no markup, just honest conversations about cycling.
Thoughtful Design
Every detail matters. We sweat the small stuff—tube profiles, weld penetration, cable routing—so you can just ride.
Melbourne Made
Designed, assembled, and quality checked in Melbourne. Our geometry is developed on the roads and gravel we ride every week.
Ride Quality First
Titanium's natural compliance means comfort without weight penalty. Every frame is designed to make long rides feel shorter.
On The Road
Designed in Melbourne. Tested everywhere.
